SHORT BIO:
Focusing on the Middle East with the objective to uncover the untold stories of the Arab World, Nawal was one of the few journalists who followed in closely the uprisings in Yemen and Saudi Arabia during the Arab Spring. Nawal then completed four documentaries focusing on the Yemeni Revolution and one on Saudi Arabia.
Nawal was the first journalist to enter the unchartered territory of Sa’adah and gained an exclusive interview with son of Houthi movement founder Baddredine Al-Houthi, Mohammed Baddredine Al-Houthi. She was nominated for two awards for her film “Saadah: The Untold Story”.
Following this, Nawal entered Saudi Arabia undercover and produced an investigative documentary on Shia oppression in Saudi Arabia. Most recently, Nawal produced and reported a documentary on the Yemeni political divide for BBC Arabic and BBC World.
